Long days riding gravel can make it nearly impossible to keep things clean, well-lubricated, and running fast. To counter this we partnered with a spin-off from the University of Arkansas Nanotechnology Department to create a high performance chain lube and cleaner, called GRAX. The results are in. Dirt or pavement, rain or mud, slop or muck, GRAX keep riders rolling faster, longer.
GRAX is short for gravel wax. It is a wax-based lube engineered to shed water, dirt, and mud, and keep chain rollers well lubricated and running smooth through endless miles of abuse. We tested GRAX’s efficiency vs. several competitors in standard dry conditions, as well as the nasty stuff. After countless hours in labs and four full seasons of riding gravel roads and trails around northwest Arkansas we found GRAX to be the most efficient, and most durable, lubricant on the market.
We tested two primary performance properties in GRAX, 1) it's ability to repel moisture, and 2) wattage expenditure in both dry and muddy conditions. GRAX was tested against multiple experimental hydrophobic lubricants as well as the most expensive and high performing products on the market. GRAX excels in all categories. It ensures you not only have the most efficient lube available, it also sheds water and dirt better than any product. It shaves watts, keeps your drivetrain running smoothly and quietly for more miles in the most extreme conditions, and improves the longevity of your drive train components.
GRAX is available in a 4oz bottle (up to 20 applications)
Love the GRAX cleaner and lube.I have used this in my cyclocross, enduro, and eMTB. The emtb is really hard on chains and sprockets so if you are getting dry, you will hear it. This is the best I’ve used n dry and wet conditions. Highly recommend!
My first ride using GRAX was quite a surprise - my drivetrain was smoother and quieter than normal. In general, my drivetrain feels like it is operating more efficiently in all conditions. We have had 26" of rain this November. GRAX has performed excellent without exception. My new favorite chain lube.
Like many folks, I've tried many lubes and thought I had that issue pretty much settled. I ride in very dry & dusty conditions and had a dry lube that worked well for that but I also see a lot of creek crossings and the water to dust to water to dust sequence wore the lube quickly. I thought that's just how it was living between two different conditions. Somehow Grax seems to thrive equally well in wet+dry as well as just dry. I did use the chain cleaner and followed the instructions thoroughly. My drivetrain looked new and I let it dry completely before applying lube. I was really impressed with the drivetrain cleaner. Not sure what it's made of but it's almost odorless but easily cleaned the chain in just a few minutes. Applying the lube was interesting - I applied it same as any other but it's really high viscosity. It looked like lotion and I was skeptical that it was getting deep in the rollers. I let it dry overnight and by then the lube was now invisible. I rode it through torrential conditions for several consecutive rides and it was impressive. At the end of a sloppy ride, my chain was the only clean part on my whole bike. I don't get anywhere near 100 miles per lube like they say but still this lube is fantastic in performance and also really good longevity. My testing was MTB only - no road or gravel.
Don’t stray from this lube, it’s a game changer all around. Longer drivetrain life and easy to clean. No brainer, if your still reading this review you’ve already wasted too much time. Just f*cking buy it.
