The Beautiful Brutality of Unbound Gravel

By: Andy Chasteen

Unbound Gravel is a cruel soul on even the best of days. But this year the storms came. Wind, rain, thunder, lightning. And mud.

ALLIED athletes Lea Davison and Payson McElveen took to the line with thousands of other riders to take on the 200 mile course through the Flint Hills of Kansas. A lot can happen on a day of that distance, and it certainly did.

We were there, camera in hand, cheering and watching and shooting and trying not to get stuck out on those sticky roads.

It was a day.
